South Carolina Legislative Oversight Committee Website ReDesign
Problem Statement
The current South Carolina Legislative Oversight Committee website and dashboard are designed in a way that make it difficult for users to find and discern information. Both lack a clear visual hierarchy necessary for users to find the information they are looking for. Both web pages are in need of a redesign that will ensure better legibility and usability for all users.
The SC HLOC spends years researching, assessing, and recording findings about various working aspects of our state and brings these findings to the SC State House Legislators to encourage action. Their design materials need better visual engagement. SC HOC findings are robust. Their reports must lead with clear and concise language to support interest.

Website Final Design
After speaking with the South Carolina House of Legislative Committee on their needs for their website redesign, we figured out the problems and organization that needed to be fixed. My group and I began breaking down the depth of the original website. Creating a site map to show a web of all of the information that is stored in the website as a whole. After breaking it down, we found a way to reorganize the information in a way that none of it is lost, but it is all easier to navigate through.
Visual Hierarchy to allow the user to know what information is the most important. These are indicated by different font sizes and colors, links indicated by underlines/text weight. Organization as. a card style UI & Navigational tools. Search & Filter Bar allows for easy search fir the study they need and can filter out what they don’t need. Changing the fonts, colors and cohesiveness brings a visually appealing scroll, as well as the study information table moving higher on the site.
